Summary:
Rain is kidnapped. Rain does not realize he's been kidnapped. Everything is fine.
Or: Phayu kidnaps the cute kid he meets in the rain, except things get needlessly complicated when he realizes that the thing he wants most of all is for Rain to be happy. And so he's forced to let him go, lest he break his spirits and destroys him. (...Rain still does not realize he was ever kidnapped. But he'd really like to know when their next date is!)
Notes:
this fic is a work in progress. it is not finished. it may never be finished. read at your own risk.
short and sweet chapters because this is purely a self-indulgent thing which means not being beholden to anyone, myself included. i'm just doing whatever.
for best readability, may i introduce you to my friend AO3's "Entire Work" button? you might hit it off~
Chapter 1
Notes:
the ultra serious, ultra important question i did not have the spoons to find an answer for; do you capitalize phi and nong even when they're not at the start of sentences???
also i would tag OOC for safety but my characterization has been praised too many times and now it's gone to my head. you'll never catch me alive!
Chapter Text
Rain has never seen someone so beautiful before in his whole life.
His breath is caught in his throat and his eyes so wide they almost hurt as he stares at the man who just finished helping him with his car. "Ehm," he says, then adds, "Hnng," and, "Kjdsfhfshdj," and he's not even embarrassed.
There are no thoughts in his head really, and so he's actually not really sure how he ended up following the man in his car—the very, very, very handsome man had said, "Follow me," and Rain's broken and battered and shattered mind just... kind of did.
Oops.
Now, he's standing in a room in a really big house, bigger than his, and he's just sort watching the man moving around the space. "What's your name?" the handsome man asks at last, and Rain starts, thoughts clearing as he watches the man's amused little smirk that is really unfairly handsome. There should be a law against being this handsome, Rain thinks, because surely it must be a danger to society.
"Rain!" he chirps, then, grinning and approaching the man. "What's yours, phi?"
"I'm Phayu," the man says, tilting his head and looking over Rain from head-to-toe. Rain shivers a little at that, his smile falling a little as he gets the strange urge to lick his lips. It's just because Phayu is too handsome, he thinks. It's perfectly normal. Phayu adds, "You're a little stupid, you know."
Rain frowns, stopping. He tilts his head and says, "That's mean, P'Phayu."
Phayu's lips twitch, the smirk changing into something resembling a proper smile and his eyes glitter—it does bad things to Rain's breath. (As he thought, it's dangerous!) "You're right," Phayu says, taking a step closer and oh, Rain didn't realize they were already so close. He tilts his head back so he can keep eye-contact, but it really only makes the fluttering in his belly worse. Phayu takes one more step closer and Rain's feet does a little wiggly thing where he inches back just a tiny bit. Phayu says, "I apologize for my meanness, Rain. Could you ever forgive me?"
"I mean—" Rain licks his lips, giving in to that weird new urge. His eyes flicker down to Phayu's mouth, and the heat that simmers below his skin is entirely unfamiliar. "I mean, you're sorry, right? So sure!" He smiles, ignoring his body's strange reactions. "I forgive you."
Phayu's eyes seem to get darker. Can human eyes do that? Why didn't he know that? "That's kind of you, Rain," and the way Phayu says his name is... Rain doesn't even know. Smooth, in a way it shouldn't be?
"It, it's no problem," mutters Rain and he involuntarily takes another step back when Phayu takes one forward, getting closer again. Rain's eyes flicker; he doesn't know what to look at. Phayu's eyes, so intense it's almost painful? Phayu's lips, stupidly pink? Phayu's... everything?
Phayu hums. "Oh, is that so? Then... are you hungry?"
Rain blinks. Phayu's smile widens, and the man reaches forward almost painfully slowly. Rain doesn't know why he doesn't move, can't really articulate the feeling in the pit of his stomach even in his own mind, but Phayu's hand touch his cheek eventually. Gently. Softly. "You must be hungry. I'll make you something to eat," says Phayu, voice low and hoarse, and Rain gulps.
"Make yourself comfortable," says Phayu, and Rain is nodding and smiling before he even knows what the man said. So... he's staying, he guesses.
Chapter 2
Chapter Text
Rain is, Phayu is starting to realize, kind of dumb.
The boy ate his food and is now sitting in front of the TV in the living room, watching a melodrama with an intensity that's almost scary. Not once has Rain asked when he'll be free to go, or why Phayu took him home, or even where home is. Not once has he questioned Phayu's orders, or made any indication he wishes to leave.
This is, Phayu is also starting to realize, kind of the most anticlimactic kidnapping he's ever done.
Not that he's kidnapped a lot of people—well, not for himself, at any rate. He does what the higher ups want, of course, and sometimes that's a bit of kidnapping, a bit of torture, a bit of death and blood and brain-matter splattered on walls. But he doesn't kidnap folks for himself; that's the kind of scrutiny he neither need nor wants.
Plopping down onto the couch next to Rain, he looks at the younger man. Rain is still staring at the TV with an utterly captivated gaze, but Phayu doesn't give it so much as a glance. He just leans against the backrest and observes Rain's various expressions.
"Do you like this?" Phayu asks after around ten minutes, still staring. He's nowhere near tired of it, of Rain's expressions and his easy laughter.
Rain mumbles, "Like it," without looking away, seemingly having only the barest idea of what was said.
Phayu purses his lips. He surreptitiously stretches out his legs until his foot taps on Rain's thigh. The guy starts at that, gaze flickering to him and Rain gulps, eyes lowering to his leg. Phayu taps the thigh again, amusement starting to burn through him again. Rain really is too cute.
"It's getting late," Phayu points out some time later.
Rain actually looks at him this time, turning his head and furrowing his eyebrows. Phayu's eyes track the startled look on his face when he realizes how close Phayu has gotten. Finally, Rain asks, "What time is it?"
Phayu hums. He tilts his head, letting his eyes linger. "Almost two in the morning."
Rain bites his lips. "I—"
"Stay here tonight," Phayu interrupts. He finds himself nearly holding his breath, despite knowing full well that the doors and windows are all locked and barred. There's no way Rain is getting out without his permission, and yet he still sounds almost breathless with anticipation.
Rain bites his lip, hands wringing together in his lap. He looks out the window, dumb enough to not worry at the sight of the bars on the other side of them, and says, "I don't have school tomorrow."
Phayu's smile is softer than it should be, but he ignores that and says, "Great. Then come, let's find you a place to sleep."
"Oh, but the couch..." Rain stops, looking around the obviously luxurious house. "Do you have a guest bedroom?" Rain asks then, and Phayu feels a little gooey inside.
"Of course," he says, leading the way to the relevant room—up stairs and through hallways until he gets to the most optimal room to secure a kidnapping victim in. It's far enough from any exterior doors that Phayu won't have to worry much (well, presumably until Rain figures out what's actually going on) and his room is on this floor, too. He's a light sleeper, he'll wake up if he hears Rain on the stairs.
"Thank you for your hospitality, P'Phayu," Rain smiles sweetly at him sitting down on the bed, oh so sweetly, and Phayu can't help it. He walks until he's right in front of the younger man and he lets his hand brush through the fluffy hair.
He smiles, and his thumb sweeps over Rain's soft cheek, and Rain's looking up at him with wide eyes. "You're welcome," he murmurs, only just managing to not give in to the urge to kiss this sweet, sweet, adorable man.
...Phayu might be in trouble.
Chapter 3
Chapter Text
"My phone!" hisses Rain between his teeth, tearing through the very comfortable bed he slept the night in, and then the rest of the guestroom when the bed doesn't result in anything. Frantic, he paces from corner to corner, upending every single thing he can just to check if somehow his phone got under it.
Thusly, Rain is halfway under the bed when Phayu opens the door.
"Rain?" Phayu asks from somewhere behind him, Rain startled enough that his head bumps against the bed-frame. Hissing, he slowly pushes himself out from under the bed and blinks up at the sudden light that seems to halo the other man. When he doesn't say anything, Phayu eventually asks, "Are you alright?"
"I can't find my phone," admits Rain. He pouts, crossing his arms over his chest and peering up at Phayu with puppy-dog eyes. According to Sky, they're unbeatable! "Will you help me look, P'Phayu?"
And another foe falls before him this day. Phayu sighs and drops onto the floor beside him. "You've looked everywhere else?" he asks, flipping over the bed's sheets like he think Rain missed it. Rain didn't miss it! He looked very thoroughly, and he's confidently ruled out every other location. If it's not under the bed, it's not in this room at all.
They spend a couple of minutes looking under the bed, then. Phayu uses a inty flashlight and Rain crawls in as far as he can, looking at every dustless corner and making sad humming noises.
Finally, he's forced to admit defeat.
"It's not here," he says glumly and looks at Phayu with the saddest expression he can make.
Phayu stares at him in silence for a long moment, so long that Rain is starting to doubt his manipulation skills, and then finally the man smiles a little. His eyes start glittering again in a way that Rain definitely did not dream about, absolutely not, and then he crawls closer. Closer. Clos— "Do you remember where you last had it?"
Rain furrows his eyebrows. "In my car?"
Phayu laughs a little, but he still says, "Let's go look for it, then," so Rain doesn't take it to heart.
They stand, and Rain brushes non-existing dust off himself, blushing a little when he realizes that he's still in his pajamas but Phayu is fully dressed. Ready to go out, if he wanted. Rain's eyes glance over Phayu's bare arms, lingering somewhat longer than is appropriate, but then he abruptly clears his throat and grins. "Let's go!"
Phayu follows him out, Rain looking in every possible direction as he tries to retrace his steps from last night. It doesn't go that badly, all things considered.
But he still doesn't find his phone.
"Don't worry, Rain," Phayu reassures him an hour later as Rain glumly eats cereal by the kitchen table, sitting with his feet drawn up on the chair. He pokes listlessly at the cereal, forcing himself to swallow a spoonful. Phayu smiles at him from across the table, holding out his hand until Rain rolls his eyes and grabs it.
Then, Phayu lifts Rain's hand to his lips and presses a quick, tiny kiss to the back of his hand. ...Rain's mind momentarily shuts down, and so he barely hears Phayu say, "I'm sure your phone will turn up when it's time."
When his brain restarts, he pulls his hand back, blusters a, "Thank you," and shovels the rest of the cereals down as quick as he can. His hand clench under the table, fingers getting entangled in his borrowed pajama pants, and there's a weird fluttering sensation in his stomach. His hand tingles around the tight grip he has on his spoon.
Phayu is really too handsome!

Chapter Text
Naturally, Phayu stole Rain's phone. It's basically Kidnapping 101, and yet as he watches Rain's forlorn expression as he sits curled up on an armchair, legs pulled up to his chest and his lip poking out, Phayu finds himself actually... regretting this. Somehow. For some reason.
"I'm sure we'll find it eventually," he reassures Rain again.
Rain only mutters something unintelligible and hides his face in his legs.
Phayu walks over and squats down on the floor before the chair. He hesitates for a moment, then he lays his hand on Rain's bare foot, feeling the other man stiffening under his grip. "It's going to be fine," he says, and smiles when Rain peeks at him.
"Sky will worry," mutters Rain, staring down at him with wide, worried eyes.
Phayu smiles, squeezing Rain's foot—and he's intensely aware that Rain is not moving his foot away, or trying to get out of his grip—and he says, "It's only been a day. Do you speak to this Sky often?"
"He's my best friend." Rain is starting to smile a little, straightening up as his pain is forgotten. Phayu delights in being the cause, in successfully making Rain come of out of his funk. He moves his hand to Rain's ankle, and Rain's answering shiver is delightful, too. Rain licks his lips, then says, "I call Sky almost every day."
"But not every day," Phayu points out. "So he won't be worried yet."
Rain says, "I guess," and then finally stands up. Phayu follows, keeping close just to see how Rain will react, and he's rewarded by Rain being unable to look away from him. He smirks, and Rain's eyes track it closely, the boy's mouth falling open a little. Phayu's own stomach clenches, and he surreptitiously fists his hands in his pockets, trying to not scare Rain.
His eye twitches almost unnoticeably at that. Why would he care whether he scares Rain?
"Do you wanna play a game?" Phayu asks to distract himself from his own thoughts.
Rain lights up. "Sure! What games do you have?"
Rain bounces all the way to the game room, where Phayu has a whole bunch of gaming consoles hooked up to a massive TV. Rain's eyes glitters as he looks around and Phayu is content to hang back, to simply watch and observe even as Rain gets some kind of RPG game started. They sit on the couch together, and Phayu sneakily puts his arm behind Rain on the backrest, and his eyes never stray.
It's over an hour later when Rain stops playing, they're legs entangled on the couch and Rain taps Phayu's knee. "Toilet," Rain says, and Phayu pulls his stiff limbs back and lets Rain get up.
He watches Rain leave, doesn't look away until Rain's turned the corner. Only then does he let his head flop against the backrest, shutting his eyes. "What the fuck?" he mutters to himself, mind already filling with images of Rain's expression as he played his game. Because Rain was so pretty, and he smiled and laughed, and nudged and poked Phayu every time he wanted to share something.
The man is so fucking sweet.
Phayu licks his lips, and it doesn't quench the thirst inside him at all. He presses a hand to his eyes, sighing softly. His other hand goes to his pocket, then, and he pulls Rain's phone out, turning it in his grip and staring at it.
Biting his lip, he finally rises. Puts the phone on top of a bookcase where it can't be seen, and wanders after Rain. "I should call Prapai," he says to the empty room, knowing that his friend is likely wondering what is up at this point. There are races to organize, too. Work to be done.
"You're really making me crazy," Phayu's voice is soft and he smiles a little, a tiny movement barely visible. Stopping outsdie the bathroom Rain disappeared into, he leans against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest, shuts his eyes, and listens to the pleasant sound of Rain humming.

Chapter Text
Rain walks out of the bathroom and Phayu is right there. Rain does not at all squeak in surprise, because he's a man and men don't squeak. In fact, woman don't squeak. Nobody squeaks!
"Hi," he does not squeak, but says in a respectable voice range that is nigh-on professional in its supreme voice quality.
Phayu rises a dark eyebrow and hums. "Hello," the man says, smirking a little. "How have you been?" Phayu asks, stepping into beat with him as they return to the gaming room. Rain peeks at Phayu as they go, swallowing somewhat heavily when Phayu isn't looking, and his fingers pull on the ends of his clothes, tugging.
"I'm been well," answers Rain, then politely asks, "What about you, P'Phayu?"
"How could I not do good with such a pretty boy in my home?" Phayu looks at him and smiles, and his eyes basically glitter.
Rain's belly flutters. "I—"
Phayu laughs, but it's not a mean laugh it's an... amused laugh? A kind one? Soft, somehow? Phayu says, "You're sweet," and Rain's heart does a strange kind of thumping thing in his chest. It—kind of reminds of him of... But no! That would be silly!
Back in the gaming room, Rain settles on the couch and Phayu sits beside him; so close that Rain can smell him. He's aware—of the warmth of Phayu's body, of the man's arm behind Rain's head, of Phayu's gaze on him. It's almost too much, Rain's stomach clenching as he picks up the controller again and unpauses the game.
But he doesn't move away. Doesn't tell Phayu to stop staring. Doesn't even startle at the feather-light touch on the back of his neck, even though his character on the screen stumbles and walks into a wall.
At one point, he peeks at Phayu out of the corner of his eyes again, and inhales sharply at the intent gaze he's faced with. Phayu huffs a laugh at this, fingers sweeping over Rain's neck again, and says, "You don't need to worry about me. Play as much as you'd like."
"You're not bored?"
Phayu smirks. "I could never be bored with you."
Rain's smile is impossible to hide, but he tries anyway. Looks right at the TV and pulls his feet up on the couch, bare toes digging into the fluffy cushion. Phayu's hand is still on his neck, and it's warm and gentle both, and Rain does not know how to deal with it. Has no frame of reference here.
"You're shameless," he accuses Phayu.
Phayu, perhaps predictably, merely laughs. Pushes up off the couch and scoots closer to Rain crowding him without making him uncomfortable (how does he do that so easily, Rain wonders) and the hand on his neck moves up into his hair, pressing on his scalp in oddly soothing ways. Rain has no attention to spare for the game, now, eyes squarely stuck on Phayu. "I know," Phayu murmurs then, and smiles.
Rain gulps. He licks his lips, and the eye-contact is searing. "I don't mind," he says, for some truly unknowable reason.
"I know," Phayu repeats.
Rain nods, and it doesn't even dislodge Phayu's grip, the hand in his hair and fingers pressing gently on his scalp only moving with him.
Eventually, Rain clears his throat. Refocuses on the TV. Phayu says, "I'll get started on lunch. You can keep playing if you want." Rain nods, not looking at Phayu, but he mourns the loss when Phayu's no longer touching him. Curls his legs up a little tighter, and when he hears the door shut, finally allows himself to exhale.
After a moment, he asks, "What is wrong me?" His hand goes to the back of his neck, where he still remembers Phayu's lingering touches, and he hides his face in his hands even though he's alone. A flush stains his cheeks and he bites his lower lip.
He stays like that for a long minute.
Notes:
...i misspelled squeek literally every single time, lmao
Chapter 6
Chapter Text
Prapai laughs at him.
Phayu sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose as he paces on the house's bottom floor not far from the kitchen. "Are you just going to laugh?" he asks, stopping and staring out the barred window. The soundproofing is good but he can still hear the vague sounds from Rain playing—the door probably isn't shut. He listens, now, as he waits for his best friend to stop wheezing.
Finally, Prapai says, "You seriously kidnapped someone?"
"Yes."
Prapai wheezes again. "Who? When? Why?" A pause, then, "Why didn't you tell me?"
"It was... sudden." Phayu clears his throat. Rubs his eyes and says, "Anyway, do you have any advice?"
"I don't know, I don't generally kidnap people. So who are they?"
Phayu sighs, dropping onto a chair in the kitchen. His eyes stray to the clock on the wall; it'll be time for lunch soon. He wonders what kind of food Rain likes. The boy hasn't protested against anything Phayu has fed him but maybe he just hasn't dared. At last, Phayu answers, "A pretty boy."
Prapai's laugh is loud and infectious. "You—" he's laughing so much that Phayu can't even tell what he's saying. It's sadly not an unexpected outcome and so he just waits it out. He hears movement upstairs, tilting his head to better listen just as Prapai says, "The boy must be really pretty if you decided to kidnap him."
"He is," Phayu agrees. Prapai laughs once more. Prapai is at work; Phayu can hear his secretary in the background. "I'll let you go back to work," Phayu says then, but of course it makes no difference.
"Wait, wait, I'll come visit tonight, okay?" Prapai asks, audibly excited.
Phayu looks at the pantry. "That's fine. I'll cook so bring wine. Also..." Phayu licks his lips, lowering his voice sligthly. "I don't think he knows he's been kidnapped."
"...Are you serious?"
"Yes."
Prapai laughs so loudly Phayu flinches from the phone. He pinches the bridge of his nose, sighing, and then stills when he hears movement on the floor above. Rain is walking somewhere, so Phayu quickly says, "He's coming, I have to go. Text me." And then summarily hangs up.
Rain appears at the top of the stairs mere seconds later. Phayu looks at him, smiling—Rain is shuffling forward, too-big clothes hanging and making him seem smaller, cuter. His hair isn't properly brushed, and Phayu's fingers itch at the memory of how soft and fluffy it is. How warm his skin was under Phayu's hand, how Rain melted into his touch, just letting him do whatever he wanted...
He clears his throat. "Hungry?" Phayu asks, stepping around the kitchen island and getting closer to Rain than is perhaps wise.
Rain looks up at him with a gobsmacked look, expression shifting before finally settling on something nearly unbearably soft. "Yeah," croaks Rain, glancing around the kitchen, the over Phayu, then back to the kitchen. Rain bites his lower lip, eyes wide, and Phayu's self-control damn near shatter right then and there.
"I'll make lunch," Phayu declares to distract himself, but his eyes are very much stuck on Rain's mouth. It's pouty, perfectly shaped, and he wants... "A friend will be stopping by later tonight, if that's okay?"
"Oh, but I need to—"
"I'm sure there's no hurry," says Phayu, shifting a little and getting even closer. "It's the weekend. You don't have school," he mutters, hand rising and settling on Rain's warm cheek without his actual permission. Rain leans into it almost instantly, eyelashes fluttering, and Phayu's bending forward before his mind has time to even think.
He stops. Right before pressing their lips together, before kissing this sweet, sweet boy, Phayu stops. Rain's startled breath is loud between them, eyes round, and Phayu's fingers sweep over the skin beneath his hand.
"I—" Rain shuts his mouth, licking his lips, and it's probably the worst thing he could do because Phayu... is for some reason not instantly taking what he wants. For some reason restraining himself when really, this is why he kidnapped Rain in the first place. And yet Phayu steps away, smirks, and goes back to the pantry.
And he makes their lunch as Rain sits by the kitchen island, watching, gaze burning on his back.
