Summary
A snapshot of a rooftop.
night
“Man, this is literal heaven,” says Troy, on a bed on the roof of Greendale Community College. He stretches out, staring at the cloudy night sky and sighs again—this time extra theatrically.
“I’m afraid there’s only one bed,” declares Abed in a deadpan voice.
Troy cranes his head. “I know, dude. I’m in it.”
“So despite our misgivings about the clear emotional tension that simmers between us, we must relent to the forces of the narrative and share the bed.” Abed holds up his laptop. “The Walking Dead?”
“You know it!” Troy rolls until he’s sitting, and grabs the giant bottle of soda next to the bed. “Orange soda?”
“You know it,” says Abed. He joins Troy on the bed, and they settle in against the makeshift headboard. It’s a bit chilly, but honestly, that just makes it cozier. They’ve got plenty of blankets and
“Hey, what was that about emotional tension?” Troy chugs a bunch of soda at once and burps. Abed pats his back, and then tosses a bunch of cheese balls in Troy’s mouth.
Abed’s the best.
“I mean the clear charged narrative between us. “At first I thought it was sexual,” says Abed, hands moving to make his point. “Than I realized I don’t want to have sex with you, so it can’t be that. Then I thought it was romantic, but you’re not in love with me, so it can’t be that. Therefore, it’s an unlabeled emotional tension of an uncategorized ‘will they won’t they’ nature.”
Troy blinks. “Sounds complicated,” he finally notes, frowning. “Are you saying you don’t wanna live together anymore?”
“No, on the contrary, I think we should always live together.” Abed nods, seeming very pleased with himself.
Troy strokes his chin, furrowing his brows. “So… you don’t want anything to change?”
“Nope. We’re perfect the way we are.” Abed shrugs.
“Good, good, good. Cool. Good.” Troy chugs some more soda, and almost drowns. After he’s been resuscitated and they’ve gotten some more soda thanks to begging Annie, they’re finally starting their Walking Dead rewatch.
Living together with Abed forever? Yeah, thinks Troy as they settle in under the covers and blankets and they’re good and cozy—sounds good.
Really good.
