Xiaobao burns bright red, and his heart skips a beat, and he bullishly declares, "That's fine! I'm a modern man! I don't have any prejudice against alphas who like alphas!"

"This is all your fault," says Jin Xiaobao, plainly, and holds his head high. He refuses to bend or explain; this was not his fault.

"You- you-" his father wheezes, and waves his hand in the direction of Huaien, who sits upon Xiaobao's bed, still. He's watching them with dark, beautiful eyes, and Xiaobao can't help but preen when that gaze falls upon him, can't help puffing out his chest and swishing his hair back with a flick of his wrist. "You!" his father erupts, and Jin Xiaobao flinches, cowering before his father's great being. "You rascal!" his father shouts. "You've utterly ruined us!"

"It's not my fault!" Xiaobao defends, raising his hands and scuttling back toward the bed and Huaien. Tilting his head, the beautiful hair swings over Huaien's chest and the man turns his head, gaze following Xiaobao's progress. "You said to make nice with the palace staff!"

"The staff, not the---the imperial prince!" And Xiaobao's father starts pacing around the room, going from one side of it to another while Xiaobao's mother fusses over him, following him around and trying to convince him to sit. "The prince is---is feral!" His father shouts. "He's dangerous, Xiaobao!"

Xiaobao looks at Huaien. Huaien looks back at him, blinking his soft, pretty eyes and staring at Xiaobao with a gentle expression, body leaning forth. Feral, thinks Xiaobao. "That's just rumors!" erupts Xiaobao, incensed at the clear scheme somebody's pulling. Xiaobao has seen feral omegas before and none has ever behaved as Huaien.

He's clearly just tired! Probably from fighting off all those hideous palace intrigue and schemes!

Hmph.

"To think you would tie yourself to an alpha, too," mourns Xiaobao's father, collapsing to a seat and bending over as he wheezes. "A feral alpha," he wheezes. Then he inhales deeply and shouts, "You've ruined us all!"

...Alpha?

Xiaobao stares at Huaien. Huain stares at Xiaobao.

.......Alpha?

"Really?" asks Xiaobao, scuttling to the edge of the bed and twisting his fingers, staring down at the floor as his cheeks flush bright. "Are you really an alpha?" he asks, again, when no answer's forthcoming.

"Yes," says Huaien, and his voice is deeper now but just as beautiful. Jin Xiaobao glances at him from under his eyelashes, and flushes brighter---Huaien is staring right at him! Still! Always!

"You unfilial son!" roars Xiaobao's father weakly, and Xiaobao waves his hand in his father's direction, pleading for him to please just hold on, Xiaobao is in the midst of an important development of his romantic relationship. He might even be able to get married soon. Isn't that what his parents want?

"That's good," remarks Huaien, and grabs Xiaobao's hand, the fingers twiddling, and pulls him down onto the bed. Pulling Xiaobao close, he nuzzles their noses together, then inhales sharply and shoves his head into the bend of Xiaobao's neck and shoulder, inhaling sharply. His hands clamp down onto Xiaobao, holding him close, and Xiaobao nearly purrs, pleasure and warmth and delight running through him. He clings right on back, and shivers when Huaien's lips grace his skin, stomach swooping.

He holds on until he hears his parents leave, father cursing him and mother trying to drag him, before he glomps onto Huaien with everything he's got and tosses them down on the bed.
